Eco-friendly, sustainable and luxurious products from our adorable alpacas — raised with care in the San Juan Mountains.
Inside San Juan Mercantile • Pagosa Springs, CO
Welcome. We’re glad you found us. Alpacalypse Ranch LLC is owned by Kathleen Conway and is home to both Huacaya and rare Suri alpacas in the San Juan Mountains near Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
Our alpacas provide beautiful products often of show quality. We raise them with excellent feed, shelter and daily care so their fiber is soft, strong and full of character. Every skein, rug and hat can be traced back to animals we know by name.
“Alpaca is considered the softest, warmest, and most luxurious natural fiber found in the world.”
We welcome your inquiries — whether you’re looking for yarn, a handmade rug or hat, dryer balls, or simply want to learn more about these remarkable animals.
The fleeces are made into a variety of products including yarn, roving and rug yarn. We also create handmade rugs, hats, dryer balls and other useful items.
Fine loft from Huacaya and silky drape from Suri — often blended for a unique textile experience. Ideal for knitting, crochet and spinning.
Durable, soft alpaca rugs made from our own fleeces on smaller looms. Natural colors and one-of-a-kind pieces — see what’s available.
Warm, lightweight handmade hats and other wearables crafted from our alpaca fiber. Soft against the skin and naturally insulating.
Bird nesting balls, dryer balls, felt insoles, and more — made with alpaca fiber or inspired by ranch life.
Find Alpacalypse Ranch products at our booth inside San Juan Mercantile in Pagosa Springs — yarn, handmade items, dryer balls and more. When you arrive, ask for the Alpaca Booth or the Alpacalypse Ranch Booth and staff will direct you.
Contact us or visit our Facebook page for the current schedule of where we’ll be next.
We are blessed to have both breeds at Alpacalypse Ranch. We often combine fiber from both to produce a unique textile experience.
Produces fine, lofty, fluffy fiber with a soft crimp. The most common type of alpaca and prized for its warmth and volume — perfect for cozy knits and lofty yarns.
Shiny, drapy locks often compared to silk. Thought to be the original domesticated alpaca and once nearly extinct. Still rare — only about 10% of alpacas worldwide are Suri, and roughly 20% of American alpacas.
Fiber close-ups from our herd
Hollow fibers trap air for excellent insulation without bulk.
Little to no lanolin — gentler for many sensitive skin types.
Wicks moisture, resists odor, and holds up well with care.
A renewable natural fiber from animals we raise with care.
Because we raise the animals ourselves, choose their feed carefully, and provide shelter and comfort, we know exactly where each skein comes from. The animals’ names are always on the tags.
Whether you want yarn, a handmade rug or hat, dryer balls, or simply have a question — we’d love to hear from you.
We respond to every inquiry.
